1. About these terms

These terms cover the Doctor Devify Hub at tools.doctordevify.com. That includes the hub homepage, every resource we publish under it (Ward on the Street, Foundation Ranker, the Pay Calculator and its Complete resources, the Pay Scales pages, the Payslip Explainer, the Tax Relief Calculator, NHS Staff Money Resources and Spec Select), the books at books.doctordevify.com, and the links page at links.doctordevify.com. By using any of these you agree to these terms; if you don't agree, please don't use them. You must be 18 or over to create an account or buy a paid tier.

2. Who we are

The Doctor Devify Hub is run by Doctor Devify Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a UK-registered company. The brand we use day-to-day is "Doctor Devify". To get in touch, email hello@doctordevify.com.

3. The Hub and its tools

Not financial advice: where a tool produces financial figures (Pay Calculator, Payslip Explainer, NHS Staff Pay Calculator), the output is a planning estimate, not personalised advice. Doctor Devify Ltd is not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. For a recommendation that fits your full situation, speak to a chartered accountant or an FCA-regulated adviser.

3.1 Before You Rank

Before You Rank has now been brought under Ward on the Street, and its functionality is the same.

Compare hospital trusts on Ward on the Street, the database that was Before You Rank, is the first publicly-available database of NHS trust digital systems. It's free, no account required. Most data (EPR, electronic documentation, prescribing, integration, hospital parking, community notes) is community-sourced and cross-checked with multiple contributors, but it's crowd-generated and may not reflect every recent change. Always verify directly with the relevant trust before relying on a particular detail.

Trust league position is sourced from NHS England's Oversight Framework, published quarterly. We re-import after each refresh, but the most current figures are always those on england.nhs.uk. The Oversight Framework grades English NHS trusts only (Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish trusts are not covered). It's a board-level metric reflecting operational, finance and quality indicators at trust level: a useful signal of how a trust is run, but not a direct measure of the day-to-day experience of healthcare professionals working there. Treat it alongside the other information on Ward on the Street, not as the deciding factor.

3.2 Ward on the Street

Ward on the Street publishes anonymous hospital reviews by the resident doctors and other NHS staff who worked there. Resident doctors and each staffing group of other NHS staff are scored and ranked apart from each other. It's free, and writing a review needs no account. Specific terms:

• Your own job only: review only a rotation or department you worked in yourself, and write it honestly, from your own experience.
• The guidelines: every review must follow the Ward on the Street guidelines, the same for resident doctors and other NHS staff. Each one is checked before it's published, by automated software with oversight from the Doctor Devify team, and one that breaks them isn't published. We never rewrite a review: where a name, a ward, a role or anything else would point to someone, we take it out and mark the place.
• What you write: you keep ownership of your review. By sending it you give us a free, non-exclusive licence to publish it and to include it in scores and rankings on our resources for as long as it is up. You confirm it doesn't break the law or anyone else's rights.
• Taking reviews down: we may decline a review, or remove one after it's published, for example after a report. You can withdraw your own at any time with its receipt code.
• Your receipt code: it is the only way to check, fix, withdraw or claim your review. We don't keep a readable copy, so we can't recover a lost one.
• Reviews are opinions: each review is the view of the person who wrote it, not ours, and a hospital's scores reflect its reviews, not an official assessment.
• GMC survey results: hospital pages and the leaderboard also show results from the GMC National Training Survey, as the GMC published them. They are the GMC's figures, kept separate from the reviews, and Doctor Devify is independent of the GMC.

Ward on the Street isn't the place to raise a concern that needs action, such as unsafe care or bullying by a particular person. Speak to your trust's Freedom to Speak Up Guardian, your Guardian of Safe Working, or your deanery or local education office.

3.3 Foundation Ranker

Foundation Ranker helps UK final-year medical students rank Foundation Programme rotations. Rotation data is sourced from Oriel, the GMC National Training Survey and individual foundation schools; digital systems data is community-sourced via Ward on the Street. Specific terms:

• Account: you create an account using email + password or Google sign-in. You're responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for activity under your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or are used fraudulently.
• Free and Complete tiers: the free tier covers basic ranking. Complete unlocks additional features. We may modify what each tier includes.
• Payments: Complete is a one-time payment handled by Stripe. The price shows at checkout. Access lasts until 30 June after you buy, the end of that ranking cycle, and the date shows before you pay. A purchase made before 16 September 2026 keeps the 12 months it was sold with. You can cancel within 14 days of buying and we'll refund you in full, even if you have used it: email hello@doctordevify.com. A refund ends your access. After 14 days the payment is not refunded, except where the law requires it. Don't share your paid access with other users.
• Bonus ebook: Complete comes with the digital edition of 42 Night Shift Lessons I Learnt the Hard Way, as a download code sent by email and kept in your account, on the terms in 3.6. If you bought Complete before 25 September 2026, you received a coupon code for the ebook instead.
• Hospital locations and distances: Foundation Ranker works out distances from each hospital's location. Hospitals are placed at their postcode using the NHS Organisation Data Service and NHS Scotland's open data list of hospitals, or from OpenStreetMap where neither lists them. A postcode you enter to sort hospitals by distance is looked up in the same postcode data. The data owners ask us to credit them as follows: © OpenStreetMap contributors. 3.4 Pay Calculator

The Pay Calculator estimates take-home pay for NHS doctors: resident doctors in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and consultants in all four. The calculator, the pay scales pages, the Payslip Explainer and the Tax Relief Calculator are free and need no account. Outputs are a planning estimate, not personalised financial advice. The Pay Scales pages reproduce figures from the published pay circulars for each nation, with the circular named on each page; where a page and a circular differ, the circular is the authority.

Doctor Pay Complete: a subscription billed monthly, every four months or yearly, whichever of the plans offered to you that you choose, that unlocks the Rota Compliance Check, the Personalised Payslip Check, the Automatic Correction Email, Test Career Decisions, advanced salary payslip breakdowns, and saving your rotations, rotas, payslips and salaries to your account. It is built for resident doctors in England on the 2016 contract. You need a Doctor Devify account to buy it. Payments are handled by Stripe and the price shows at checkout. You can cancel within 14 days of buying and we'll refund you in full, even if you have used it: email hello@doctordevify.com. A refund ends your access. After that you can cancel at any time and keep access to the end of the period you have paid for, which is not refunded, except where the law requires it. Don't share your paid access with other users. We may modify what Complete includes.

Rota and contract checks: Complete checks your rota against the 2016 terms and conditions of service and the Working Time Regulations as we have read them, and we have reviewed those readings with care. Its findings, and any letter drafted from them, are information to help you raise a question, not legal advice, and we do not warrant that a finding would be upheld. For a decision that matters, confirm the position with the BMA, your trust's medical staffing team or a legal representative.

Tax Relief Calculator: estimates the income tax relief HMRC may owe you on professional fees, mileage, uniform, exams, courses and home working, at England's rates. It is a figure to take with you, not the claim itself: you file the claim yourself on GOV.UK, HMRC decides it, and we are not tax advisers. We are not liable for any tax liability, penalty or interest arising from a claim you make.

Before you see a figure: each calculator asks you to confirm that the figure is an estimate based on what you entered, that you may receive more or less depending on your circumstances, and that you accept these terms and our privacy policy. Your acceptance is stored in your browser only.

Where the numbers come from: primary, official sources only. BMA pay scales, NHS Employers pay circulars, GOV.UK (income tax, National Insurance, student loan thresholds), HMRC (mileage rates, professional bodies list) and NHSBSA (pension contribution tiers). We update each April when those sources publish new figures. If something changes mid-year, we flag it on the home page.

What we model: on England's 2016 contract, basic pay, hours above 40, weekend allowance, night enhancement, non-resident on-call, LTFT, London weighting, Flexible Pay Premia and locum top-up. In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, the pay point on that nation's circular with the banding supplement or hourly rate its contract uses. On top of pay, for every nation: PAYE, National Insurance, NHS Pension, student loan, salary sacrifice and car parking.

What we don't model: sick pay or maternity pay. If you are on either, your payslip will not match what this shows.

A note on real payslips: real payslips vary by month, depend on your tax code and exception reports, and pick up trust-specific quirks. Treat the calculator as a baseline, not a guarantee.

Affiliate links: some links (American Express, Foodery, Monzo and similar) are clearly marked as affiliate. If you click through and sign up or buy, the partner pays us a small fee. This doesn't change the price you pay or the bonus you get, and we only feature products we use ourselves.

3.5 Payslip Explainer

The Payslip Explainer is a teaching page. It shows one worked NHS payslip for an example doctor and explains what each line means. Free to use, no account, nothing to enter. The payslip on it is not real: the layout follows a genuine ESR payslip, and every name, number and reference on it is invented or calculated from the same published pay scales the Pay Calculator uses.

It describes how NHS pay and deductions generally work. It cannot tell you whether YOUR payslip is right, and nothing on it is personalised advice. If your own figures look wrong, your trust's payroll team is the place to start.

3.6 Books

We publish books written for UK doctors. Two delivery models.

Digital books: currently 42 Night Shift Lessons, sold here through our payment partner Stripe. A copy bought on Payhip stays under Payhip's terms.

• Delivery: a download code is emailed to you straight after payment, so use an inbox you can access. You download the PDF at books.doctordevify.com/redeem, or from the Purchases and Billing tab of a Doctor Devify account with the same email. Each purchase can be downloaded three times.
• Your copy: every page is stamped with the email it was bought for, the date and time of purchase and an order reference.
• Gifts: a book bought as a gift is sent to the email you give for the recipient, and their copy is stamped with it.
• Price: £9.99, including any VAT due where you live.
• 14-day refund: email hello@doctordevify.com within 14 days with a short note on why (so we can improve) and we'll refund you in full, even if you have downloaded it. A refund ends the downloads. After 14 days the sale is final.
• Bonuses: bundled with each purchase, inside the book. Values shown on the page are realistic estimates of what each bonus would cost separately, not a guarantee of cash value. Bonuses may be rotated or refreshed over time; any active at the time of your purchase still apply.
• Licence: a book purchase is for your personal, non-commercial use. Please don't resell, redistribute or publish the file. For teaching-group or hospital-induction bulk licensing, email us first.

Paperback books: currently NHS Hot Topics, sold through Amazon. Amazon handles checkout, payment, delivery, returns and refunds under their own terms. We don't see your card details or order information.

Not advice: the books are educational, written by an NHS doctor (Dr Dev Gakhar) based on personal experience and research. They aren't clinical, medical, legal or interview-success advice. NHS policy, guidance and legislation can change over time. Always check official and up-to-date sources, follow your trust's policies, and listen to your seniors' clinical judgement. The books are independent publications, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or produced by the NHS or the Department of Health and Social Care.

3.7 Affiliate codes and links

Some people who share our resources are affiliates of Doctor Devify. An affiliate's link, or their code entered at checkout, takes 10% off your first payment for a resource in the programme. One discount applies to a purchase. The affiliate earns a commission from us, which never changes what you pay, and they are not told who you are. What we record about a purchase made this way is in section 4.7 of our privacy policy.

3.8 NHS Staff Money Resources

The NHS Staff Pay Calculator estimates take-home pay for Agenda for Change staff in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is free and needs no account. Outputs are a planning estimate, not personalised financial advice. The pay scales come from NHS Employers for England, the Scottish Government's circular for Scotland, the Welsh Government's pay letter for Wales and the Department of Health's circular for Northern Ireland, named on each page; where a figure here and its source differ, the source is the authority. Northern Ireland's page uses the 2025/26 scales until the 2026/27 award is paid. The NHS staff pay scales pages show the same scales, with each nation's unsocial hours rates and overtime, from the same sources, and are free to read.

What it models: your band and pay step, contracted hours, unsocial hours, overtime, a long-term recruitment and retention premium and, in England, the high cost area supplement, each on its nation's full-time week. On top of pay: PAYE at Scottish rates for a Scottish tax code, National Insurance, the NHS, NHS Scotland or HSC Pension and student loans.

What it doesn't model: sick pay, maternity pay, on-call payments or salary sacrifice. If any of these applies to you, your payslip will not match what this shows.

NHS Staff Pay Complete: a subscription billed monthly or yearly, whichever plan you choose, that unlocks the Rota Compliance Check for NHS staff, the Personalised Payslip Check, the Automatic Correction Email written from your rota or payslip check, and saving your rotas and payslips to your account. It is built for Agenda for Change staff in England. You need a Doctor Devify account to buy it. Payments are handled by Stripe and the price shows at checkout. You can cancel within 14 days of buying and we'll refund you in full, even if you have used it: email hello@doctordevify.com. A refund ends your access. After that you can cancel at any time from your account page and keep access to the end of the month or year you have paid for, which is not refunded, except where the law requires it. Don't share your paid access with other users. We may modify what NHS Staff Pay Complete includes.

Rota Compliance Check for NHS staff: it checks your rota against the working time limits in Section 27 of the NHS Terms and Conditions of Service Handbook as we have read them. Some of those limits can be set or varied by local agreement, which the check cannot see. Its findings, and any email drafted from them, are information to help you raise a question, not legal advice, and we do not warrant that a finding would be upheld. For a decision that matters, confirm the position with your union, your employer's HR or workforce team, or a legal representative.

Personalised Payslip Check for NHS staff: it checks your payslip against your rota and the NHS Terms and Conditions of Service Handbook as we have read them, and it cannot see every local arrangement your employer has. Its findings, and any email drafted from them to your payroll team, are information to help you raise a question, not financial or legal advice, and we do not warrant that a finding would be upheld. For a decision that matters, confirm the position with your payroll team, your union or your employer's HR team.

4. Not advice

The Doctor Devify Hub is informational. Nothing in the hub or its tools, books and other resources is medical, financial, tax, or career advice. For decisions that affect your training, pay, taxes, or career, talk to the right professional (educational supervisor, chartered accountant, FCA-regulated financial adviser, careers lead, the BMA or your union, etc.). You're responsible for your own decisions. Doctor Devify Ltd is not regulated under UK financial services law and is not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority.

5. Resource descriptions on the hub

The hub homepage describes each resource, the data it draws on, and who it's for. We try to keep these summaries accurate and up to date, but the live resource always wins over the summary. Coverage and features can change.

6. Our work

The design, copy, code, algorithms, and branding across the Doctor Devify Hub are the intellectual property of Doctor Devify Ltd unless stated otherwise. Please don't copy, redistribute, modify, or reverse-engineer any part without our prior written consent. Underlying public datasets surfaced inside individual tools (e.g. Oriel rotations, GMC survey, NHS trust details) belong to their original publishers.

The collections built on the Hub by Doctor Devify and its community, including Ward on the Street's reviews, scores and locum rates and the details our community has added about NHS trusts (their electronic patient record, notes and prescribing systems, and community notes), are databases in which Doctor Devify Ltd holds database right and copyright. You're welcome to read them, search them and share links to them. You may not extract or re-use all or a substantial part of any of them, or repeatedly extract smaller parts, whether by hand or by automated means, without our prior written consent. Search engines may index our public pages for search.

7. Limits of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• We provide the Doctor Devify Hub on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
• We're not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use.
• We're not responsible for decisions you make based on the rankings, reviews, calculations, or information presented.
• We're not liable for any tax, pension or other liability that arises from acting on a figure a tool produced, including a claim you file with HMRC.
• Our total liability for any tool shall not exceed the amount (if any) you paid for access to that tool's paid tier.
• Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for things we cannot lawfully exclude (such as death, personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud).

8. Acceptable use

• Don't use the Hub for anything illegal or in violation of these terms.
• Don't try to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' accounts.
• Don't attempt to bypass any access control or probe the Hub for security weaknesses.
• Don't scrape, crawl, clone, or use automated tools to extract content without our permission.
• Don't republish a tool's output as your own.
• Don't send a Ward on the Street review of a job you didn't work, or more than one review of the same job.
• Don't share paid Foundation Ranker Complete access with other users.

9. Changes

We may update, modify or discontinue any part of the Hub or its tools at any time. We may also update these terms; the "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version. We're not liable to you or any third party for modification or discontinuation of any part of the service.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
