New for 2027

In 2027, UK graduates and others in the priority group are offered interviews and training posts first. Read more here.
The emergency medicine route now sets its 36 months: at least 12 in EM, 3 in acute medicine, 6 in anaesthesia, 6 in ICM and 3 in paediatric EM, each in a post of that specialty.

Key dates for August 2026 entry (Round 2)

Coordinated by the Intensive Care Medicine National Recruitment Office (ICMNRO) at NHS England West Midlands with the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM), across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. One application covers the whole UK using a Single Transferable Score. You can apply simultaneously to ICM and a partner specialty for Dual or Triple CCT.

Anticipated start date: Wednesday 5 August 2026. You must score 12 or more points at Self-Assessment verification to be invited to interview.
